Property Legal Advisor – Permanent Contract (2 Weeks Duration)

Are you an experienced Property Legal Advisor seeking an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact within a valued local authority? North Somerset Council is looking for a dedicated Property Legal Advisor to join our Property & Contracts Team for an initial two-week contract, with the potential for future opportunities. This is a fantastic chance to work on a wide variety of property legal matters, supporting the council’s mission to create a fair, green, and inclusive environment for all residents.

About the Role: Property Legal Advisor

As a Property Legal Advisor, you will provide expert legal support across a diverse range of property-related issues. Your responsibilities will include handling sales and purchases, landlord and tenant matters, highway agreements, and deferred payment agreements. You'll collaborate closely with colleagues across the council’s services, offering comprehensive legal advice and guidance.

This role requires a proactive professional with strong commercial property skills and a good understanding of legal procedures in the public sector. An essential requirement is a valid driving licence and own transport or an alternative suitable method of travel, as travel to various council sites will be needed.

Candidate Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on property transactions, including sales and purchases
• Handle landlord and tenant matters, licences, and agreements
• Draft and review legal documents related to S38 Highway Agreements and Deferred Payment Agreements
• Support colleagues across the council with legal guidance on property matters
• Manage and prioritise a busy workload efficiently
• Maintain accurate legal records and documentation
• Adhere to best practices and compliance standards

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as a Property Legal Advisor or similar role
• Solid knowledge of commercial property law and procedures
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Valid driving license and own transport or suitable alternative
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to work a hybrid schedule, with 0-1 days in the office per week

Salary/Pay Rate

This is an initial two-week contract, with pay rate to be discussed based on experience and relevant qualifications.
