Job Title: Probation Service Officer (PSO) – HMP Humber & HMP Doncaster
Are you an experienced criminal justice professional seeking a rewarding role in offender management? We are currently recruiting Probation Service Officers (PSOs) for fixed-term contracts at HMP Humber and HMP Doncaster. Probation Service Officer (PSO) – Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of low to medium risk offenders, supporting wider offender management teams.
- Conduct assessments, develop and implement Risk Management Plans.
- Prepare detailed reports for courts and criminal justice agencies.
- Supervise individuals on community orders, suspended sentences, or transitioning from custody.
- Maintain accurate case records using IT systems within agreed timeframes.
- Make effective referrals to support services and monitor progress through prison, home, and community visits.
- Support and deliver structured interventions and programmes, including mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults.
- Foster pro-social behaviour through positive role modelling and challenge anti-social attitudes.
- Collaborate with offender managers, prison staff, service providers, and external agencies to ensure effective case management.
- Provide operational cover and support team colleagues when needed.
Candidate Requirements & Desirable Skills
- Experience working within criminal justice, social care, safeguarding, housing, or related environments.
- Knowledge of risk assessment, safeguarding, and professional boundaries.
- Strong communication and organisational skills with a focus on managing priorities.
- Competent IT skills and experience with maintaining detailed records.
- Resilient, organised, and committed to supporting offender rehabilitation.
- Ability to work confidently with diverse individuals, exercising sound judgement.
