Role: Public Protection Officer
Locations (3 days per week onsite): Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff, Glasgow, Croydon, Peterborough
Pay: £300/day Umbrella OR £220.07/day PAYE
Contract length: Until 31/03/2027
Hours: 40 per week


DUTIES
• Plan, coordinate and conduct investigations in collaboration with senior investigators and team leads.
• Gather, analyse and assess evidence, ensuring all investigatory activity complies with relevant statutory duties, procedures and governance.
• Present clear evidence summaries and recommendations to team leaders on whether the evidence supports progression.
• Assist with preparing investigation documentation (e.g., evidential summaries, case papers and supporting records).
• Support applications for search warrants and assist with on-site investigations using formal powers where required.
• Work effectively within multi-agency environments (including MAPPA-style settings), coordinating actions and appropriate information sharing.
• Manage sensitive and complex cases professionally, maintaining accurate records and sound judgement under pressure.
• Work independently, balancing remote working with the onsite requirement.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED
Essential (must have one of the below):
• Law enforcement investigation experience (e.g., police staff / investigative teams / enforcement investigation roles)
OR
• Offender management experience (e.g., probation / offender management units / public protection roles)

Plus:
• Recent, in-depth experience managing high-risk offenders, ideally within an asylum or broader criminal justice setting.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and offender management frameworks.
• Proven ability to work effectively in multi-agency environments (e.g., MAPPA or equivalent).
• Experience delivering or coordinating tailored interventions and rehabilitation plans.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and complex cases.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• High level of integrity and commitment to public service values.

Desirable:
• Knowledge of asylum processes and immigration legislation.
• Experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals with mental health needs.
• Familiarity with Home Office systems and operational procedures.
