Job Opportunity: QSW - Family Safeguarding (Contract)

Are you an experienced Qualified Social Worker (QSW) looking to make a positive impact within Children's Services? We are currently seeking a dedicated QSW - Family Safeguarding to join our team on a contract basis in the vibrant county of West Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive environment, helping vulnerable children and families achieve better outcomes.

Position: QSW - Family Safeguarding

Location: County Hall, Chichester
Employment Type: Contract
Working Pattern: Full time
Pay Rate: £38.00 per hour (capped under the MoC scheme)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid model, with a preference for office-based work. Flexibility to work from home is available.

Please note that all candidates should be aware of the pay rate cap and understand that salary offers will be based on skills and experience assessed during the interview process. The role requires a valid driving license and the willingness to travel around the western area of the county to fulfil role requirements.


Candidate Responsibilities for the QSW - Family Safeguarding

As a QSW - Family Safeguarding, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting high-quality assessments of children and families to identify needs and risks.
  • Developing and implementing effective care and intervention plans.
  • Undertaking child protection investigations as needed.
  • Collaborating effectively with multi-agency teams to safeguard children.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Working proactively to prevent the unnecessary removal of children from their families where possible.
  • Maintaining detailed, accurate case records and producing reports as required.
  • Engaging with children and young people through direct work to understand their needs and wishes.
  • Demonstrating excellent assessment skills to identify risk and areas for intervention.
  • Managing a caseload of complex cases while maintaining standards of practice.

Candidate Requirements for the QSW - Family Safeguarding

  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualified experience working in LA children's social care in England.
  • Recent front-line child protection experience.
  • Strong assessment skills with the ability to identify risk.
  • Experience in direct work with children and families.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multi-agency teams.
  • Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel across the western area of the county.
  • Ability to produce detailed, practice-based references, with two references supplied on the DfE template.
