Tameside MBC is looking for resilient, experienced, and autonomous Social Workers to join their Safeguarding & Support team. You’ll manage a varied and meaningful caseload including Child in Need, Child Protection, pre-proceedings and Court work — supported by a stable, permanent leadership team committed to continuous improvement.
Following a positive recent Ofsted monitoring visit (January), Tameside is on an ambitious improvement journey — and you’ll be part of shaping that progress.
🔎 The Role This is primarily office-based, with some flexibility for home working (agreed with your Team Manager).
Full-time hours worked across 5 days preferred.

You will:
- Complete assessments for Children in Need, Child Protection and cared-for children
- Coordinate multi-agency support plans
- Undertake statutory visits, reviews and direct work
- Prepare high-quality reports for Panels and Court
- Build meaningful relationships with children and families
- Promote and respect children’s cultural, religious and linguistic identities
- Maintain accurate records and meet statutory requirements
- Engage in supervision, training and CPD
- Qualified Social Worker
- Registered with Social Work England
- Strong safeguarding and court experience
- Able to work independently and manage complex cases
- 5 years’ references (employment gaps will be checked)
- Relevant qualifications as per JD/PS
- £39 per hour competitive locum rate
- Supportive and stable leadership

- Positive service momentum following recent Ofsted feedback
