This is a contract role lasting 3 months, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to recovery journeys and support individuals in overcoming substance misuse challenges.

About the Role: Recovery Practitioner - Opiates

As a Recovery Practitioner - Opiates, you will play a vital role in supporting service users from entry into treatment through their recovery process. Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams, you will deliver person-centred care, screen and assess needs, develop tailored recovery plans, and facilitate access to community resources and treatment options. Your efforts will help reduce harm, promote social reintegration, and foster resilience among individuals battling opiate dependency.

Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Act as main care coordinator, overseeing individual recovery journeys, including screening, assessment, and care planning
  • Deliver comprehensive assessments and asset mapping, identifying community resources
  • Develop and review personalised recovery plans using motivational interviewing techniques
  • Support service users with social reintegration and access to peer and mutual aid groups
  • Coordinate interventions such as psycho-social support, harm minimisation, and clinical treatments
  • Support prescribed substitution regimes in collaboration with clinicians
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage safeguarding procedures
  • Promote health education on harm reduction, overdose prevention, and blood-borne viruses
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with confidentiality protocols
  • Participate contributing to a supportive, inclusive, and outcome-focused service environment

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in substance misuse or related health care roles, especially with opiate users
  • Sound knowledge of drug and alcohol issues and multi-agency working
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills
  • Ability to work independently and within team environments
  • Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality
  • Ability to engage hard-to-reach and marginalised populations effectively
