Recovery Practitioner - Opiates – Southwark

Are you passionate about supporting individuals on their journey to recovery from substance misuse? We are seeking a dedicated Recovery Practitioner - Opiates to join our dynamic team in Southwark. This is a contract position lasting 9 months, offering a great opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives while developing your professional skills.

Recovery Practitioner - Opiates: Key Responsibilities

As a Recovery Practitioner - Opiates, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality care within a multidisciplinary team. Your duties will include:

  • Supporting service users from initial entry into the service through their recovery journey
  • Conducting screening, assessments, and recovery planning, including onward referrals
  • Reducing drug and alcohol-related harm to service users and the community
  • Promoting community involvement, social reintegration, resilience, and peer support
  • Acting as the main care coordinator overseeing individual recovery plans
  • Developing tailored packages of care, which may include psycho-social, clinical, and harm minimisation interventions
  • Supporting substance misuse and substitution prescribing regimes in collaboration with clinicians
  • Carrying out risk assessments, risk management, and safeguarding procedures
  • Providing health education on harm minimisation, overdose prevention, and blood-borne viruses
  • Liaising with partner agencies, including health services and community groups
  • Ensuring confidentiality and building trusting therapeutic relationships

Candidate Requirements

The ideal Recovery Practitioner - Opiates will demonstrate:

  • Excellent understanding of drug and alcohol issues, particularly opiate misuse
  • Experience working within substance misuse and recovery environments
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of mental health interventions and outcomes-focused approaches
  • Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and equality, diversity & inclusion
  • IT competency for record-keeping and reporting
