Registered Manager – Secure Children’s Home
Location: Peterborough
Contract: 3 months
Hours: 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: Fully office-based
Pay Rate: £400 per day (Umbrella)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Registered Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership within a secure children’s home service in Peterborough.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced children’s services professional who is passionate about delivering safe, therapeutic, and high-quality care for children and young people in a secure residential setting.
About the Role
As Registered Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for the effective leadership and management of the service, ensuring children receive outstanding care, support, and opportunities to thrive within a safe and nurturing environment.
You will oversee all aspects of service delivery, including care quality, education, health provision, staffing, budgets, safeguarding, compliance, and partnership working. You will ensure the service operates in line with statutory requirements, regulatory frameworks, and best practice standards, including Ofsted expectations and the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
This role requires a visible and inspirational leader who can drive continuous improvement, support a multi-disciplinary workforce, and ensure the experiences and needs of children remain central to all decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for a secure children’s home service
- Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and child-centred care
- Maintain full compliance with statutory regulations, safeguarding requirements, and regulatory inspections
- Lead, support, and develop a large multi-disciplinary workforce
- Drive service improvement, innovation, and quality assurance activity
- Oversee operational performance, budgets, and resource management
- Promote a therapeutic approach that reflects children’s individual needs and lived experiences
- Build and maintain strong relationships with partner agencies and stakeholders
- Represent the service locally and nationally with external partners, regulators, and government bodies
- Ensure the service remains at the forefront of secure residential care practice
- Proven senior leadership experience within children’s residential care or a secure children’s setting
- Experience operating at Registered Manager, Head of Service, or equivalent level
- Strong knowledge of children’s homes regulations, safeguarding, and regulatory requirements
- Experience leading and developing large multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to manage complex services with significant operational responsibility
- Strong understanding of quality assurance, service improvement, and performance management
- Excellent partnership-working and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
- A strong commitment to improving outcomes and experiences for children and young people
