Repairs Assistant Responsibilities
The Repairs Assistant will play a key role in supporting the delivery of responsive repairs and maintenance within a vibrant housing setting. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing administrative and telephone support to the Responsive Repairs and Planned Maintenance Team to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Acting as the first point of contact for tenants, managing repairs and housing enquiries via phone and written communication.
- Diagnosing and raising repair orders, ensuring appropriate priority, contractor allocation, and cost control.
- Handling high volumes of enquiries, resolving issues at first point of contact using housing knowledge and internal systems.
- Maintaining accurate records of customer interactions and repair activity.
- Supporting Repairs Inspectors and Surveyors with coordination of works, tenants, and contractors.
- Processing contractor invoices, variation orders, and completion data within designated limits.
- Monitoring and updating asset and repairs data, including compliance areas like asbestos, EPC, and property attributes.
- Identifying and prioritising cases related to disrepair and Right to Repair legislation.
- Performing general administrative duties such as correspondence, reporting, and follow-up on customer satisfaction.
Repairs Assistant Requirements
To succeed as a Repairs Assistant, you should possess:
- Minimum 1 year experience in a customer-facing role, ideally within housing, repairs, or maintenance sectors.
- Strong communication skills — both verbal and written.
- Good IT skills, with experience in using databases or housing/repairs systems.
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Effective workload management, capable of prioritising multiple tasks.
- Confidence in dealing with a wide range of customers, including challenging situations.
Desirable Skills
- Experience within housing, property maintenance, or construction environments.
- NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service (or equivalent).

Salary: Pay rate as per the agreed contract terms.
