SEND Caseworker - 2-Week Contract – North West Local Authority

Are you an experienced SEND professional seeking an exciting contract opportunity? We are currently hiring a SEND Caseworker for an initial 2-week contract with a North West Local Authority. This is a fantastic chance to apply your expertise in SEND processes and legislation while supporting children, young people, and their families. Job Title: SEND Caseworker

Contract Length: 2 weeks

Pay Rate: £300 per day (Ltd Company)

Location: North West (Hybrid working – minimum 2 days on-site)

Working Hours: 7 hours per day / 35 hours per week


Candidate Responsibilities as a SEND Caseworker

As a SEND Caseworker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting schools, settings, services, and families in applying the graduated approach for pupils with SEND
  • Coordinating the statutory assessment process for children and young people with SEND
  • Managing Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plans from assessment through to placement and review
  • Monitoring and reviewing pupil progress against specified outcomes
  • Building strong relationships with SENCos, headteachers, and education providers
  • Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners including SENISS, Occupational Therapy, Educational Psychology, Social Care, and Health services
  • Ensuring statutory timescales for EHC plans are met
  • Placing children, young people, and families at the heart of planning and decision-making
  • Attending annual reviews for vulnerable pupils such as Looked After Children or those at risk of exclusion
  • Supporting inclusion within local maintained settings wherever possible

Candidate Requirements

The ideal SEND Caseworker candidate will have:

  • Recent experience within an educational or Children’s Services environment
  • Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND legislation
  • Proven experience managing statutory assessment and review processes
  • Ability to facilitate review meetings effectively
  • Experience working with multi-agency teams
  • Excellent engagement skills with parents and carers
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
