Join Our Team as a SEND Officer – Fully Remote Contract Opportunity
Are you an experienced SEND Officer looking to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic local authority? We are seeking a highly skilled SEND Officer to support the management of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) on a fully remote basis. This contract role offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in SEN legislation to showcase their expertise while enjoying flexible working arrangements.
SEND Officer Responsibilities:
As a SEND Officer, you will be responsible for managing a busy caseload of EHCP annual reviews and amendments, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Your daily duties will include:
- Managing a caseload of EHCP annual reviews from initial amendments to finalisation
- Drafting, amending, and issuing high-quality, legally compliant EHCPs within statutory deadlines
- Reviewing professional reports and integrating advice into plans
- Liaising with families, educational establishments, and professionals to agree on amendments
- Identifying and obtaining missing information necessary for plan completion
- Preparing cases for panel meetings and finalising plans within an 8-week timeframe
- Producing an estimated 10 high-quality amendments per week
Candidate Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Proven experience as a SEND Officer / EHCP Officer within a local authority
- Strong knowledge of EHCP legislation and statutory processes
- Ability to produce clear, concise, and legally compliant plans
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Effective communication skills and confidence working with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment

Additional Information:
This fully remote role requires candidates to collect equipment in person from the council’s office in Shefford at the start of the assignment. Standard working hours are 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with some flexibility (e.g., 8:00 am – 4:00 pm). The initial contract length is 3 months, with potential for extension depending on performance and ongoing needs.
