Job Title: SEND Officer
Are you an experienced SEND Officer looking for an exciting contract opportunity? We are currently recruiting for 2 SEND Officers on a two-week contract. This role is a fantastic chance to work within a supportive team, contribute to meaningful education planning, and make a difference in the lives of children and families. If you have a solid background in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and are familiar with Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans, we want to hear from you!
About the SEND Officer Role
As a SEND Officer, your primary responsibility will be to produce high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) while working efficiently in a busy environment. Initially, you will join an annual review recovery/backlog team, where your goal will be to issue approximately 10 draft amended plans per week. Some cases may be complex and require additional time, but your expertise and knowledge of SEND legislation will ensure timely and compliant delivery.
Following the initial phase, the role will evolve to include working as a dedicated SEND Officer within a locality area. In this capacity, you will manage a small group of schools, processing and completing assessments and casework related to annual reviews and EHCP updates.
Candidate Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans following legislation and best practice guidelines
- Develop and issue draft amendments for EHCPs, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Work closely with schools, families, and multidisciplinary teams to gather necessary information
- Manage a caseload effectively, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines
- Maintain detailed and accurate case records
- Support the review and recovery of backlog cases, contributing to the timely renewal of EHCPs
Candidate Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience working within a SEND team
- Proven track record of producing high-quality EHCPs and amendments
- Strong understanding of SEND legislation and policies
- Positive communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with schools and families
- Ability to manage a busy workload efficiently and accurately
- Positive references reflecting your SEND expertise
