About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Officer to join a Local Authority in the Berkshire area on a fully remote basis. This role sits within the Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) / Post-16 team and requires a confident professional who can manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining statutory compliance and delivering high-quality outcomes.
This is a fast-paced position suited to someone who can hit the ground running and work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a large caseload of approximately 200 children and young people with SEND
  • Ensure compliance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
  • Coordinate Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments, plans and reviews
  • Draft, finalise and issue EHCPs, ensuring all statutory deadlines are met
  • Attend and chair annual reviews, including transitional and post-16 reviews
  • Work collaboratively with families, education settings, health and social care professionals, and post-16 providers
  • Promote and embed the voice of the child/young person in all casework
  • Prepare reports and present cases at SEND panels and decision-making forums
  • Monitor outcomes and progress, identifying when additional support or intervention is required
  • Support phase transfers and transition planning, particularly into adulthood
  • Maintain accurate records using Capita ONE / MRI, SharePoint and MS Office
  • Escalate safeguarding concerns and uphold high standards of professional practice and confidentiality
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a SEND Officer within a Local Authority
  • Strong working knowledge of Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) and post-16/18 SEND processes
  • Proven ability to manage high caseloads independently
  • Experience of chairing annual reviews
  • Solid understanding of statutory frameworks and compliance requirements
  • Working knowledge of Capita ONE (or MRI), SharePoint and Microsoft Office
  • Availability to work 5 days per week (37 hours)
What We’re Looking For
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise effectively in a busy environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality, compliant casework
  • Proactive, resilient and able to work autonomously

If you are an experienced SEND Officer with strong PfA and post-16 expertise, we’d love to hear from you.
