We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Surveyor (Disposals) for a short-term contract role based across a mixed commercial portfolio. This exciting opportunity offers an engaging leadership position where you will play a vital role in shaping and executing a significant disposals programme aligned with the council’s regeneration and sustainability goals.

Senior Commercial Surveyor (Disposals) Responsibilities

As a Senior Commercial Surveyor (Disposals), your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the delivery of a disposals pipeline to optimise capital receipts and ensure statutory compliance
• Managing and overseeing a diverse commercial property portfolio to maximise performance and mitigate risks
• Supporting and deputising for the Head of Property & Development
• Identifying and driving forward commercial, regeneration, and development opportunities
• Producing and reviewing viability appraisals, options appraisals, and business cases
• Providing strategic property advice to senior stakeholders and elected members
• Contributing to service planning and implementing the disposals strategy
• Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to deliver key property outcomes
• Leading the Estates surveying function across disposals and acquisitions

Candidate Requirements for the Senior Commercial Surveyor (Disposals) Role

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Proven experience delivering asset disposals programmes within complex estates
• Strong background managing mixed-use commercial portfolios
• Demonstrable commercial acumen with a history of maximising asset value
• Experience within the public sector, with private sector exposure highly desirable
• Skilled in negotiation, maintaining value, and driving strong financial outcomes
• Leadership presence capable of influencing senior stakeholders
• Knowledge and experience in regeneration, development, and income-generating initiatives
• A degree (or equivalent) in Estate Management, Real Estate, Property, or related discipline
• Full professional membership of a recognised body (e.g., MRICS or equivalent)
