Service Care Solutions are currently working alongside a well-regarded local Authority in Northamptonshire, who are seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Lawyer to join their legal team on a locum basis.
Senior Contracts Lawyer
Location: Northamptonshire / Remote
Rate: £50.00 - £55.00 per hour Umbrella
PAYE (Inc Hol) - £44.50 - £48.89
Contract: Initial 3-month contract (with potential extension)
Working Pattern: Full-time | Fully Remote
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal professional with strong public sector contracts and procurement experience to join a busy and supportive legal team, managing a varied and complex caseload.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal professional with strong public sector contracts and procurement experience to join a busy and supportive legal team, managing a varied and complex caseload.
Key Responsibilities as a Senior Contracts Lawyer:
- Advise on procurement procedures and compliance, including matters relating to the Procurement Act 2023
- Handle contentious procurement matters and support on dispute resolution where required
- Deliver high-quality legal support, including drafting reports, advising internal stakeholders, and providing training
- Manage complex and high-profile matters independently while supporting the wider legal team
- Instruct and liaise with external solicitors and counsel when necessary
- Provide support and supervision to junior legal staff where required
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with at least 8 years PQE in contracts law
- Strong experience handling contracts and procurement matters, ideally within local government or the wider public sector
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage a complex caseload with minimal supervision
