Senior Payroll Administrator – Newcastle Upon Tyne – Permanent

About the Role: The Senior Payroll Administrator

As the Senior Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for managing multiple payrolls, ensuring accurate processing, compliance, and timely submissions. Your role will include a variety of payroll activities, from end-to-end payroll processing to advising clients on payroll-related queries.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Payroll Administrator:

  • Manage weekly, bi-weekly, 4-weekly, and monthly payrolls from start to finish
  • Calculate wages, bonuses, overtime, and statutory deductions
  • Ensure all payments and submissions are filed with HMRC promptly
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and input data correctly
  • Handle payroll amendments, starters, leavers, and year-end processes
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports
  • Reconcile payroll reports to ensure accuracy
  • Process CIS returns for contractors
  • Act as the main contact for your portfolio of clients, providing payroll advice
  • Assist with payroll reconciliation and ad-hoc payroll tasks
  • Support junior staff members as needed

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in payroll management, preferably within a payroll bureau or managing multiple payrolls
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of current tax and employment legislation
  • Proficient with payroll software and MS Office
