Achieving the Best Outcomes for Children and Young People
Are you a passionate and dedicated Social Worker committed to making a real difference? Join our team in Lancashire and help us ensure that every child and young person is safe, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.
About the Role As a Social Worker in Preston, you will play a vital role in safeguarding children and young people, ensuring they are protected from harm and receive the right support at the right time. You will undertake high-quality social work assessments and deliver meaningful direct work with children and families to promote positive, lasting change.
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify children in need, including those who may require protection, and take effective action to safeguard them.
  • Assess the needs of children and young people, determining appropriate levels of intervention and service provision, including tailored packages of family support.
  • Negotiate, coordinate, provide and/or commission services to meet identified needs.
  • Gather and analyse information for referrals to determine whether intervention is required within the continuum of need, ensuring appropriate recording with Children’s Social Care.
  • Ensure the voice, wishes, and lived experiences of children and young people are central to assessment and planning processes, with clear evidence of participation.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, sharing responsibility for planned interventions and participating in statutory meetings, case reviews, and other professional forums.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with organisational and service-specific administrative and financial procedures.
  • Engage in regular supervision, continuous professional development, and formal training in line with service requirements.
  • Be responsive and sensitive to the diverse needs of all groups within the community, promoting equality, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice.
What We’re Looking For
  • A qualified Social Worker with a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection legislation.
  • Experience in assessment, planning, and delivering interventions for children and families.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
Why Join Us? Working in Lancashire means being part of a dedicated, forward-thinking service committed to continuously improving the lives of children and families. You will be supported through high-quality supervision, ongoing training, and opportunities for professional growth — all while making a meaningful impact in your community.
