Senior Solicitor – Contract Position
Are you an experienced Senior Solicitor looking for an engaging contract opportunity within the social care sector? We are currently seeking a dedicated Senior Solicitor to join a dynamic team focused on discharge applications in Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in family law, social care, or related legal disciplines.
About the Role – Senior Solicitor
The primary responsibility of the Senior Solicitor will be to progress discharge applications, either through an agreed accelerated process or contested discharge matters involving a Special Guardianship Order (SGO). This role requires consistent office-based work, with a presence in the social work teams for at least 2 to 3 days each week, to ensure cases are advanced efficiently and without unnecessary delays. The successful candidate will also need to appear in court—either in person or remotely—covering hearings in Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent on discharge cases.
Candidate Responsibilities – Senior Solicitor
As a Senior Solicitor, your key responsibilities will include:
- Progressing discharge applications for children and families, ensuring legal procedures are followed accurately
- Sitting with the social work team at least 2-3 days per week in the office to collaborate and facilitate case progression
- Representing clients confidently at court hearings, both in-person and remotely, in Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent
- Managing contested discharge cases and providing expert legal advice to social care teams
- Ensuring timely and compliant progression of all cases within the agreed timelines
Candidate Requirements – Senior Solicitor
- Qualified solicitor, solicitor advocate or equivalent legal qualification
- Prior experience in family law or social care law, particularly with discharge applications and SGOs
- Office-based with the flexibility to attend courts in Stafford or Stoke-on-Trent
- Strong litigation skills and the ability to handle contested proceedings
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
