About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary clinical team at a brand new specialist independent day school opening in Hemel Hempstead. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of something from the ground up — shaping therapy provision from day one in a purpose-built, well-resourced environment.
The school caters for boys and girls aged 5–16 with a range of special educational needs including ADHD, autism, speech, language and communication difficulties, and social and emotional difficulties.
As a Senior SaLT, you will work collaboratively across the school to ensure therapeutic support is woven into every aspect of education and daily life. You will provide consultation, workshops, training, and clinical guidance to educational teams, while also delivering direct, evidence-based interventions to pupils with complex and varied needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist speech, language, and communication assessments and develop individualised intervention plans
- Provide direct 1:1 and group therapy in line with pupils' EHC plans
- Work as a key part of the MDT, ensuring therapeutic approaches are embedded across the school
- Provide consultation, training, and guidance to educational and care staff teams
- Support and supervise less experienced therapists and therapy assistants
- Liaise with families, CAMHS, Social Care, and external agencies
- Contribute to annual reviews, EHC plan processes, and MDT reports
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HCPC and RCSLT standards
- Champion high standards of clinical practice across the team
- Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with current HCPC registration
- Substantial experience working with children and young people with complex needs including autism, ADHD, and SLCN
- Proven ability to deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions in specialist or SEND settings
- Experience supporting and supervising teams around a child to ensure clinically informed environments
- A confident, engaging leader, trainer, and clinical role model
- Highly organised, proactive, and committed to outstanding outcomes for young people
- Full UK driving licence — some travel is involved
- RCSLT membership desirable
- Salary of £47,549 – £55,480, inclusive of full paid school holidays and bank holidays
