Team Leader / Site Supervisor – Local Authority

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established local authority for an experienced Team Leader / Site Supervisor to join their Property Maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional with strong supervisory skills to play a key role in delivering high-quality maintenance services across housing and non-housing properties.

If you're an organised leader with a solid background in building maintenance, health and safety, and managing multi-skilled teams, we'd love to hear from you.

As Team Leader / Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of maintenance and repair works across the local authority's property portfolio. You will supervise a multi-skilled workforce, coordinate the supply of materials from workshops to operational teams, and ensure all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

You will also investigate service concerns and complaints, working closely with Council officers, contractors, and external stakeholders to resolve issues and continuously improve service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate a multi-skilled workforce across a range of maintenance projects.
  • Manage the supply and distribution of materials to maintenance and contract works.
  • Monitor the quality, progress, and completion of repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Investigate complaints and concerns relating to workmanship or service standards, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
  • Liaise with Council officers, contractors, consultants, specialist firms, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend site meetings and provide technical advice where required.
  • Assist in developing and reviewing operational procedures and performance monitoring processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, policies, and safe systems of work.
  • Promote high standards of customer service and continuous improvement.
We're looking for a motivated and experienced supervisor with a strong background in construction or property maintenance who can confidently lead teams and maintain high service standards.

Essential Requirements
  • SMSTS qualification (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
  • Proven experience supervising construction or maintenance teams.
  • Experience working across the main building trades.
  • Good knowledge of social housing stock and traditional construction methods.
  • Strong understanding of Building Regulations.
  • Knowledge of asbestos regulations and safe working practices.
  • Excellent understanding of current Health & Safety legislation.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams and Word.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • PVG Scheme membership (or willingness to obtain).
What's on Offer
  • £18.60 per hour
  • 35-hour working week
  • Immediate start available
  • Long-term contract until 31 March 2027
  • Opportunity to work within a respected local authority supporting essential community services
