Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of statutory social work duties and care planning
- Undertake direct work with children, young people and families
- Hold and manage Section 17 (Child in Need) cases where appropriate
- Coordinate plans, chair Child in Need meetings and review progress
- Contribute to assessments, including parenting, risk and single assessments
- Provide practical, hands-on family support and model positive behaviours
- Support children through life story work and intervention-based activities
- Supervise and facilitate family contact sessions
- Undertake Private Fostering Assessments and statutory visits
- Contribute to reports, reviews, case conferences and planning meetings
- Maintain accurate, timely and high-quality case records
- Work collaboratively within a pod/team structure, contributing to shared decision-making
You will have:
- Experience of direct work with children and families
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- The ability to build trust while maintaining professional boundaries
- Confidence to appropriately challenge and support families and professionals
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
- A collaborative approach and commitment to team working
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Level 3 qualification in Children & Young People (or willingness to work towards)
- Ability to travel across the service area
