Social Work Assistant / Family Support Worker (Contract)

We are seeking a dedicated Social Work Assistant / Family Support Worker to join our expanding Children with Disabilities team. This is a contract position for 6 months, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful support services within a dynamic environment.

About the Role:

As a Social Work Assistant / Family Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing vital support to children with disabilities and their families. You will work closely with families, review care packages, and participate in resource panel presentations. This role involves building strong relationships with service users and collaborating with colleagues to ensure the best outcomes for children with disabilities.

Candidate Responsibilities:

As a Social Work Assistant / Family Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting children with disabilities and their families through direct engagement and reviews
• Assisting with care planning and assessments (experience in this area is advantageous)
• Working alongside other professionals within the team to deliver seamless support services
• Reviewing direct payment packages and working with families on financial arrangements
• Conducting occasional home visits to assess family needs
• Presenting information at resource panel meetings
• Familiarity with direct payments and Local Care Services (LCS) is preferred, though full training will be provided

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience working with children with disabilities and their families
• Knowledge of care planning, assessments, and direct payments
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to undertake home visits and attend resource panel meetings
• Familiarity with LCS and direct payments is an advantage but training will be provided
