We are currently seeking a dedicated Social Worker for a 3-month contract to make a positive impact on children’s lives by assessing, supporting, and recruiting foster carers. About the Role: Social Worker
As a Social Worker, you will be responsible for undertaking comprehensive assessments of prospective foster carers, supporting them throughout the assessment process, and ensuring the best outcomes for vulnerable children. You will play a key role in promoting family stability by supporting foster carers and children within our community.
Key Responsibilities of the Social Worker Include:
- Conduct viability and full assessments of prospective applicants to determine their suitability to become Foster Carers, Special Guardians, Connected Person Foster Carers, or Private Foster Carers.
- Present all relevant case information at Foster Panel or Court, depending on the circumstances.
- Contribute to the recruitment of prospective foster carers by responding to inquiries and completing initial screening visits.
- Provide training to both prospective and existing foster carers tailored to the needs of the service.
- Support a duty rota, offering assistance and guidance to foster carers, ensuring children are placed locally within our Foster Carer network.
- Work flexibly with a mix of office-based (minimum 3 days per week) and remote working options, with a potential to work all 5 days from the office if preferred.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in fostering or child social work.
- Strong assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility with working arrangements, including office and home-based work.
