We are currently recruiting for a Social Worker - Children Looked After (Childrens) to join our dedicated teams in the North and Mid areas. This contract role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to family-led outcomes, supporting vulnerable children and young people to achieve safety, stability, and positive futures.
About the Role: Social Worker - Children Looked After (Childrens)
As a Social Worker - Children Looked After (Childrens), you will be responsible for delivering high-quality social care services, focusing on children in care. Your role involves building strong, supportive relationships with children, young people, and their families, ensuring assessments are thorough and plans are SMART to meet their individual needs. You will work within a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, maintaining professional standards and adhering to legislation relevant to children’s social work.
Candidate Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate children’s needs and risks.
- Develop and implement care plans aligned with family-led outcomes.
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and multi-agency partners.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all case work.
- Participate in court proceedings when necessary and represent the child's best interests.
- Travel to primary locations (Barnstaple and Tiverton) and conduct home visits as required.
- Support flexible working, including hybrid office and home-based arrangements.
- Ensure timely and consistent service delivery, avoiding drift or delays for families.
- Maintain a valid UK driver’s license and access to a car for case visits.
Candidate Requirements:
- Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
- Satisfactory completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).
- Experience working within social care, ideally in multi-agency and court settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong assessment, recording, and planning abilities.
- Valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional face-to-face visits and duty days.
Working Details & Benefits:
- Contract length: 3 months, with potential extension.
- Salary: Up to £38 per hour.
- Working hours: Monday–Thursday 9am–5pm, Friday 9am–4pm (37 hours/week). Flexible options such as 9-day fortnights may be considered.
- Locations: Barnstaple (North CLA Team) and Tiverton (Mid CLA Team).
- Hybrid working model available; minimum 1 day/week onsite.
- Free on-site parking.
- Accommodation/commuter allowance: £150/week (eligibility applies; review scheduled for June 2026).
