Social Worker - Children’s Services (Family Safeguarding) – Contract

We’re seeking an experienced Social Worker - Childrens Services to join a Children’s Services team in Preston (Ripon Street). This contract role supports Family Safeguarding, working with children and families where risk is identified and timely, robust safeguarding is essential.

Social Worker - Childrens Services is ideal for candidates who have strong experience in CIN (Child in Need), CP (Child Protection) and Court work, and who can start promptly.

Candidate responsibilities

As a Social Worker - Childrens Services, you will:

  • Manage a caseload across CIN/CP thresholds with a clear focus on outcomes for children
  • Undertake statutory assessments and work to protect children through effective safeguarding planning
  • Prepare and present cases for court, including evidence gathering and professional reports
  • Coordinate with partners and professionals to ensure timely support, escalation and review
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date case recording in line with local authority standards

Candidate requirements

To be considered for Social Worker - Childrens Services, you must:

  • Have at least three years’ experience in a permanent post within a local authority
  • Have not held a permanent or fixed-term position with an LA within the last 12 weeks
  • Demonstrate experience of CIN/CP and Court work
