Lancashire’s Children with Disabilities Service is seeking motivated agency social workers to join our team for a minimum of six months. About the Role
The Social Worker - Children’s Services will be based across multiple locations including Lancaster, Fylde and South Ribble, and Preston. These roles are crucial in providing additional support to meet the rising demand in our Children with Disabilities teams across Burnley and Pendle, North Lancashire, and Central Lancashire. You will undertake a broad range of statutory social work tasks, including assessments, safeguarding interventions, support planning, and reviews. Supporting children in our care, care leavers, and working closely with Young Adults Teams to facilitate smooth transitions into adulthood are key aspects of this role.
As a Social Worker - Children’s Services, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise within a specialist area of practice. Multi-agency collaboration with health professionals, schools, short break providers, and other services is integral to providing holistic support. Our team is passionate about improving outcomes and supporting families in a strength-based, responsive way. You will be supported by experienced managers, Consultant Social Workers, and knowledgeable colleagues dedicated to your professional growth.
Candidate Responsibilities
- Conduct statutory assessments and support planning for children with disabilities
- Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of children and young people
- Work collaboratively with partners, families, and carers to develop tailored support
- Support children in care, care leavers, and facilitate transitions to adult services
- Participate in reviews, case conferences, and multi-agency meetings
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies
- Demonstrate a caring and motivated attitude, with a focus on strengths-based approaches

Candidate Requirements
- At least three years’ experience in a permanent post within a local authority
- Not have held a permanent or fixed-term position with an LA within the last 12 weeks
- Experience working with disabled children preferred but not essential
- Strong commitment to inclusive and outcome-focused social work
