Social Worker - Disabled Children's Service (Childrens) – Contract (3 months)

Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for a rewarding role within a Disabled Children's Service across Devon? We are currently seeking a dedicated Social Worker - Disabled Children's Service to join our team on a 3-month contract, with the potential for extension. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with a background in child protection, children in care, or children with disabilities to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives.

About the Role: Social Worker - Disabled Children's Service (Childrens)

Based across various localities in Devon, including Barnstaple, Tiverton, Totnes, and Exeter, the Social Worker - Disabled Children's Service will be responsible for providing vital support to disabled children and their families. The role requires a proactive, compassionate, and experienced professional to work collaboratively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities of the Social Worker - Disabled Children's Service

  • Manage a varied caseload within children in need (CIN), child protection (CP), and children with disabilities
  • Conduct assessments, develop, and review care plans according to legal and statutory requirements
  • Visit children and families across designated Devon localities, ensuring regular and effective support
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with organizational policies
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training sessions
  • Work flexibly with hybrid office and home-based arrangements, attending duty days in the office (minimum 1-2 days per week)

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience (PQE) in a social work setting
  • Current registration with Social Work England
  • Experience with CIN, CP, and children with disabilities cases
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a car is essential, given the rural nature of Devon
  • Strong understanding of child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures
