Job Title: Social Worker – Fostering (Children’s) – North & Mid
Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for an exciting contract opportunity in fostering services? We are currently seeking a dedicated Social Worker – Fostering (Children’s) to join our North & Mid Fostering Team. This role offers a chance to make a real difference in the lives of children and their foster families, working on a 4-month contract basis with competitive pay.
About the Role: Social Worker – Fostering (Children’s)
As a Social Worker – Fostering (Children’s), you will be responsible for supporting, supervising, and advising foster carers to ensure safe, stable, and thriving placements. Your role will be essential in maintaining compliance with National Minimum Standards for Fostering and Fostering Services Regulations (England) 2011, as well as other relevant legislation. The position involves participating in unannounced visits, annual reviews, and quality assurance activities. You will also assist in delivering training sessions to prospective and existing foster carers, advocating high standards of professional social work practice.
You will cover the North & Mid areas, working across a diverse geography. Flexibility around home-working may be discussed during the interview process, with social workers expected to visit children and foster carers as required to meet service needs.
Candidate Responsibilities and Expectations
- Conduct unannounced visits, annual reviews, and quality assurance checks
- Support, supervise, and advise foster carers to ensure safe placements
- Assist in delivering training to prospective and existing foster carers
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of work undertaken
- Ensure compliance with fostering regulations and legislation
- Work across the North & Mid fostering area, covering allocated caseloads
- Maintain high standards of professional practice and development
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions
- Occasionally work from home, with flexibility discussed at interview
Candidate Skills & Experience
- Social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
- Satisfactory completion of your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
- Robust post-qualifying experience within children and families
- Knowledge of fostering regulations and associated legislation
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong time-management, planning, and recording skills
- Ability to work across a wide geographical area with flexible working arrangements
- Willingness to visit children and foster carers as needed
