Specialist Family Support Worker Band 8 (Contract) – Darlington (37 hours/week)

We are seeking an experienced Specialist Family Support Worker Band 8 to join Darlington’s Families First Reforms pilot within statutory social care. This Specialist Family Support Worker Band 8 role supports families and children through statutory Child in Need work, completing assessments and holding cases under appropriate supervision.

This is a 37-hour per week contract, with blended working. While you may work from home or the office some days, the nature of the role means a significant proportion will be office-based and/or delivered within families’ homes.

Specialist Family Support Worker Band 8 – Candidate Responsibilities

• Undertake children and family assessments to inform planning and decision-making
• Provide case holding for Child in Need cases as part of the statutory Families First model
• Deliver timely support to children and families, including direct home-based work where required
• Work to procedures and record accurately on case management systems
• Engage effectively with children, parents/carers and partner agencies to promote positive outcomes
• Participate in reflective supervision and follow guidance from supporting professionals
• Contribute to a team approach, ensuring continuity of care across the service
