Street Scene Manager - Temporary Contract (2 Weeks)

Are you an experienced professional with a background in Street Scene, Environmental Services, Grounds Maintenance, or Street Cleansing? Service Care Solutions is seeking a highly motivated and organized Street Scene Manager to join a local authority in our client for a temporary period of just two weeks. This is an exciting opportunity to lead frontline teams, oversee operational service delivery, and make a tangible impact across multiple borough sites.

About the Role

As a Street Scene Manager, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of street cleansing, grounds maintenance, and environmental services. Working across diverse locations, you will lead operational teams, oversee resources, and ensure compliance with health and safety and environmental standards. Your leadership will drive continuous improvements and uphold service excellence within the borough.

Candidate Responsibilities

  • Manage daily delivery of Street Scene services, including street cleansing and grounds maintenance
  • Lead, motivate, and support frontline operational teams
  • Coordinate staffing, vehicles, equipment, and resources for optimum service delivery
  • Respond promptly to operational issues, complaints, and service requests
  • Monitor performance against SLAs and KPIs, implementing improvements as needed
  • Oversee operational budgets, monitor expenditure, and identify efficiency savings
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, environmental laws, and council policies
  • Collaborate with councillors, community groups, contractors, and internal teams
  • Utilize digital systems for scheduling, reporting, and record-keeping
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and customer focus

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience managing Street Scene operations within a local authority or public sector environment
  • Strong knowledge of street cleansing, grounds maintenance, and environmental services
  • Experience leading frontline operational teams with performance management and staff development
  • Skilled in coordinating resources including personnel, vehicles, and equipment
  • Budget management experience with a focus on expenditure monitoring and efficiencies
  • Good understanding of health & safety legislation and environmental regulations
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong IT skills with experience in digital scheduling and operational management systems
  • Full UK driving license and access to own vehicle (essential)
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing operational demands

What We Offer

  • Pay rate of £20.72 per hour PAYE (exclusive of holiday pay) or £27.00 per hour Ltd via Umbrella (negotiable)
  • Weekly pay
  • 37 hours per week with flexible shift patterns (Monday to Friday, with options for compressed 4-day weeks)
