Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Street Scene Supervisor to join a busy local authority team in Doncaster. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operational supervisor or team leader to oversee frontline Street Scene services, ensuring the safe, effective and efficient delivery of cleansing, grounds maintenance and environmental operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll provide day-to-day direction and support to frontline teams, spending your time across two depots and out in the field. You'll work closely with the Operations Management Team to resolve operational issues, coordinate resources and ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

The Role
As Street Scene Supervisor, you will coordinate and manage multidisciplinary operational teams across a range of Street Scene services. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of staff and resources, ensuring work programmes are completed safely, efficiently and in line with service standards. This role requires a visible and proactive manager who enjoys supporting operational teams and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate and support frontline operational teams across Street Scene services.
  • Plan and coordinate daily work programmes to ensure operational targets and service standards are achieved.
  • Provide day-to-day line management, including approving annual leave, managing sickness absence and supporting staff performance.
  • Work closely with Operations Managers and HR to resolve staffing and operational issues.
  • Monitor the quality of cleansing, grounds maintenance and environmental services.
  • Carry out site inspections and ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Ensure depots, vehicles, plant and equipment are maintained in a safe and secure condition.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and operational data using relevant IT systems.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, contractors and key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, productivity and service delivery.
  • Provide specialist advice across a range of Street Scene operational activities.
  • Participate in emergency response and standby arrangements where required.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Previous experience supervising or managing frontline operational teams.
  • Experience within Street Scene, Cleansing, Grounds Maintenance, Environmental Services or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate teams.
  • Experience coordinating workloads and resolving operational issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
  • A proactive management style with a willingness to work across multiple sites and be highly visible to operational teams.
  • A Level 3 qualification in Supervisory Management, Horticulture, Cleansing or equivalent is desirable. Candidates with Level 5 leadership or management qualifications, or those looking to further develop their supervisory career, are also encouraged to apply.
  • Full UK Driving License (essential), with the ability to travel across Doncaster. Access to pool vehicles is available subject to availability and completion of a driving assessment.
