Are you an experienced social care professional looking for an impactful leadership role? We are currently seeking a dedicated Team Leader - Localities to join a busy front-line team based in the North of Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and support a team of social workers, helping to make a real difference to local families and communities.
About the Role:
As a Team Leader - Localities, you will be responsible for supervising approximately 5 Social Workers, providing guidance, support, and oversight to ensure excellent service delivery. Your role involves chairing meetings, quality assuring assessments and reports, and supporting the team in complex cases under Child in Need, Child Protection, and Care Proceedings.
You will also take turns on the weekly Duty Team Leader rota, wherein you will support duty Social Workers, monitor daily stats, chair strategy discussions, and allocate work. This role is to cover a permanent post temporarily occupied by a seconded worker.
Candidate Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of approximately 5 Social Workers, providing ongoing support, supervision, and performance management.
- Chair multi-agency meetings, including strategy discussions and case conferences.
- Quality assure assessments, reports, and casework to ensure compliance and best practice.
- Support Duty Team operations, including monitoring daily workloads, supporting duty Social Workers, and managing assigned cases.
- Allocate work effectively, ensuring caseloads are balanced and manageable.
- Foster a positive team environment and promote professional development.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives.
Candidate Requirements:
- Significant experience in child social work and knowledge of local authority procedures.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to oversee complex cases and support social workers in their work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Qualified Social Worker (Degree in Social Work or equivalent).
