Wirral Council is seeking an experienced Team Manager to lead and manage a dynamic Children’s Social Care team. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident leader to drive high-quality practice and deliver positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
The Role As Team Manager, you will lead a team of 6–8 staff, ensuring effective and consistent social work practice. You’ll oversee case management, provide strong leadership, and promote a culture of accountability, development, and high performance.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage and allocate referrals efficiently, ensuring timely and appropriate responses
• Oversee caseloads and ensure compliance with agreed casework standards
• Deliver reflective supervision, performance management, and professional support
• Audit and scrutinise practice to maintain high service quality
• Promote the voice of the child in all interventions
• Build strong multi-agency partnerships to enhance service delivery
• Support staff development, mentoring, and coaching
• Contribute to service improvements and strategic development
• Manage budgets effectively and promote value for money
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organisational standards

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified Social Worker with significant post-qualification experience
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Experience within Children’s Social Care services
• Ability to drive performance and deliver high-quality outcomes
• Excellent communication and partnership working skills
