Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Tree Officer on behalf of our public sector client based out of Halifax. This is a fantastic opportunity for an arboricultural professional to contribute to the protection and management of trees across a diverse borough.
The Role
Working within a busy Development Management environment, you will play a key role in safeguarding trees by assessing applications, providing specialist advice, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
This is a hybrid position, with a mix of home working, office attendance, and site visits, therefore being able to drive is key for any applicant.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess and determine applications for works to protected trees and those within Conservation Areas
- Provide expert arboricultural advice on planning applications and development proposals
- Manage and review Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs)
- Represent the organisation in appeals relating to tree decisions
- Lead on enforcement cases involving unauthorised tree works, including preparing evidence for court
- Act as a key liaison for external stakeholders regarding tree-related matters
- Carry out site inspections across the borough
About You
To be considered, you must demonstrate:
- A HNC in Arboriculture (or equivalent qualification)
- A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes (held for at least 2 years, no restrictions)
- Strong knowledge of planning legislation and tree protection policies
- Experience in inspecting and assessing trees and providing professional advice
- Ability to prepare clear written reports and recommendations
- Confident communication skills, with experience engaging with stakeholders
- Experience of handling appeals and/or enforcement activity is highly desirable
Additional Information
- Travel across the borough is required
- Occasional evening meetings may be necessary
- Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors and visiting sites, including remote locations
