Are you calm, caring and dependable? Do you have the resilience and commitment to support children and young people during the night?
We are looking for a Waking Nights Residential Support Worker to join our dedicated team in providing a safe, nurturing and supportive home for children and young people.
Working through the night, you will play a vital role in ensuring the home remains safe, secure and well managed while providing appropriate support to young people who may need reassurance, guidance or assistance.
About the Role
As a Waking Nights Residential Support Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and supportive environment throughout the night.
Your duties will include:

• Remaining awake, alert and vigilant throughout the entire night shift.
• Actively safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Providing appropriate support, reassurance and comfort to young people during the night.
• Responding calmly and professionally when young people wake, become distressed or require support.
• Following individual care and placement plans, risk assessments and agreed strategies.
• Maintaining appropriate boundaries, routines and expectations throughout the night.
• Monitoring the home and responding promptly to any concerns regarding safety, security or wellbeing.
• Reporting immediately any unsafe practices, incidents, concerns or safeguarding issues.
• Carrying out appropriate checks and monitoring in accordance with the home's procedures and each young person's care plan.
• Supporting young people to settle and return to sleep where appropriate.
• Responding appropriately to emergencies and following relevant safeguarding, fire, health and safety and emergency procedures.
• Completing accurate and detailed records, including night reports, incident records and relevant observations.
• Providing a clear and comprehensive handover to the incoming day staff.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment within the home.
• Supporting young people with their individual needs while promoting independence, resilience and positive development.

The Person We’re Looking For.
You will be:

• Caring, compassionate and committed to improving outcomes for children and young people.
• Calm and reassuring, particularly when dealing with distress or challenging situations.
• Reliable, responsible and able to work independently during overnight hours.
• Alert and observant, with a strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
• Confident in following care plans, risk assessments and organisational procedures.
• Able to maintain professional boundaries while developing positive relationships with young people.
• A strong communicator who can provide clear and accurate handovers and records.
• Resilient and able to remain professional in potentially challenging situations.

Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly within residential childcare, social care, education, youth work or a similar environment, would be advantageous.
