Job Title: Welfare / Lunchtime Assistant
Location: Primary School Site
Hours: Part-time – Typically during school lunch hours (usually between 11:30am – 1:30pm, times may vary)
Job Purpose:
To support the safety, wellbeing, and positive behaviour of pupils during the lunchtime period by supervising children in the dining hall and playground, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all.

Job Purpose:

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise pupils during lunchtime in the dining hall and outdoor play areas.
- Encourage good table manners and positive behaviour.
- Assist younger children with opening food packaging or basic needs where required.
- Ensure pupils eat their lunch safely and in a calm environment.
- Monitor playground activities to ensure children play safely.
- Support children in resolving minor disagreements or conflicts.
- Report any accidents, injuries, or concerns to the appropriate staff member.
- Follow school safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times.
- Assist with organising pupils when moving between the dining hall and playground.
- Ensure playground equipment is used safely.
- Usually between 11:30am and 1:30pm, Monday to Friday during term time.
- Exact hours may vary depending on school needs.
Essential:
- Friendly, approachable, and patient with children.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to supervise and manage groups of children.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to follow school policies and procedures.
- Experience working with children in a school or childcare environment.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child welfare.
- An enhanced DBS check desirable)
- Training may be provided, including safeguarding and health & safety.
- The role is typically term-time only.
