Are you an expert in supporting young women to navigate the justice system?
We are recruiting for a leading London-based charity dedicated to the safety and empowerment of women and girls. We are currently seeking a resilient and dedicated Criminal Justice (CJS) Advocate to join their Maia Service — a specialist program designed for young women and girls (YWG) aged 13–25 who are at risk of exploitation, gang involvement, or contact with the criminal justice system.
The Role
As a CJS Advocate, you will provide vital gender-specific and age-appropriate support. This is not just a case management role; it is a position of deep advocacy and mentorship aimed at helping vulnerable young women move from crisis to long-term stability.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Holistic Caseload Management: Deliver strengths-based, long-term mentoring to a cohort of YWG, focusing on healthy relationships and personal safety.
- Expert Advocacy: Act as a bridge between service users and statutory agencies including Social Workers, Youth Offending Teams (YOT), and the Police.
- Risk Assessment & Safety Planning: Proactively identify risks related to domestic abuse, gang involvement, and Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).
- Community Outreach: Provide support across our London Women’s Centres and various community outreach locations.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Participate in forums and multi-agency meetings to maximize positive outcomes and ensure the rights of young women are upheld.
- Experience: Significant background working with young women experiencing VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) and/or the criminal justice system.
- Approach: A deep-rooted understanding of trauma-informed and gender-sensitive practices.
- Skills: Proficient in motivational interviewing and coaching techniques to build trust with "hard-to-reach" individuals.
- Knowledge: Current knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection, and CSE regulations.
- Attributes: Excellent crisis management skills and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure environments.
Why Join Us?
- Impactful Work: Help YWG build the resilience needed to escape harm and thrive.
- Professional Growth: Continuous training and development within a culture of reflective practice.
- Work-Life Balance: Hybrid working options and a supportive, collaborative team environment.
