Giving Something Back This Christmas

At Service Care Solutions we like to try to give back to the local and wider community as much as possible all year round but, at Christmas, we always aim to try a little harder.

One of the charities we are partnered with is Cash for Kids, an organisation that help local children all year round. Their 'Mission Christmas' is an initiative that sees them receive, sort and distribute tens of thousands of gifts for those in need. Even in today's times, one in three children still live in poverty and Mission Christmas tries to ensure that no one wakes up on Christmas Day without a present to open.

Instead of just appealing for gifts from people within our business, we decided to put the names and ages of children on gift tags adorning a beautiful tree for staff members to select and buy presents for. It was a great way to engage staff and encourage them to donate and we were overwhelmed by the amount we managed to gather; around 80 presents in total! As well as this, we held a Kid's Christmas Party and a Christmas Jumper Day, which helped us to be able to donate an additional £1000.

We also sent seven members of staff to help at Mission Christmas HQ - a veritable 'North Pole' where all of the gifts are stored, sorted and dispatched.

Paul Bradley, CSR Chair for Service Care Solutions was one of the volunteers who went to help out. He commented, "It was great to be able to see the inner workings of such a worthwhile cause. The work the charity does year-round is phenomenal and I'd like to say thank you to every single person who has donated time, money or a gift to help with Mission Christmas. Spending time at the HQ was pretty eye opening and makes you see just how much organisation this all takes - I certainly won't be applying to fill Santa's shoes if he decides to retire, that's for sure!"

As well as the Cash for Kids initiative we did, we also helped The Foxton Centre by donating some clothing for their service users to use over winter. We took 30 sets of scarves, gloves, underwear and socks up to their centre in Preston for them to distribute those to people in need.

We also supported one of our candidates with an initiative for children in need in the Knowsley area of Merseyside by donating £150.

We would like to thank all of the staff at Service Care Solutions for engaging so thoroughly in all of the CSR activities we do. As well as this, we would like to thank all of the charities for the amazing work they do!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, from everyone at Service Care Solutions.
