Job Title – Assessment Officer
Location – Fully Remote
Contract – Temporary
Hours – Full-time
Role summary –
We are looking for an experienced Assessment Officer to join our team, working remotely to assess and administer applications for statutory and discretionary schemes, including complex cases. You will deliver a prompt, accurate and customer-focused service while supporting colleagues through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
Salary – £24.56 LTD p/h
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and process applications for assistance in line with legislation and guidance.
  • Manage changes in circumstances, updating claims as necessary.
  • Undertake complex assessments, including adjudicating on fraud and disputed cases.
  • Review and revise decisions as required.
  • Provide clear written and verbal explanations of decisions and overpayments.
  • Check and provide feedback on the work of colleagues.
  • Support and coach new team members through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders via phone, email, and letter.
  • Contribute to service enhancement projects.
  • Monitor service compliance with local guidance and legislation.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in assessing and administering statutory and discretionary applications.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation and guidance.
  • NEC and I@W system experience is essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to handle complex cases and make sound judgements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment.
