Role summary –
We are looking for an experienced Assessment Officer to join our team, working remotely to assess and administer applications for statutory and discretionary schemes, including complex cases. You will deliver a prompt, accurate and customer-focused service while supporting colleagues through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
Salary – £24.56 LTD p/h
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and process applications for assistance in line with legislation and guidance.
- Manage changes in circumstances, updating claims as necessary.
- Undertake complex assessments, including adjudicating on fraud and disputed cases.
- Review and revise decisions as required.
- Provide clear written and verbal explanations of decisions and overpayments.
- Check and provide feedback on the work of colleagues.
- Support and coach new team members through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders via phone, email, and letter.
- Contribute to service enhancement projects.
- Monitor service compliance with local guidance and legislation.
- Previous experience in assessing and administering statutory and discretionary applications.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and guidance.
- NEC and I@W system experience is essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to handle complex cases and make sound judgements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment.
