About the Role: We are looking for a skilled Carpenter to join our Housing Asset Management Team, helping maintain and improve a wide range of Council properties across North West Leicestershire. This is a hands-on role delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance with a focus on safety, efficiency, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out carpentry repairs and maintenance in domestic Council properties, ensuring all work meets current regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
- Complete multi-skill tasks in line with the Multi-Skill Assessment criteria.
- Use all provided tools, equipment, and materials appropriately and responsibly.
- Accurately record time, Schedule of Rates (SORs), and materials used via a smart device (PDA).
- Undertake site surveys to assess required works and materials.
- Work in coordination with the Asset Management Support Team to schedule and deliver work efficiently.
- Maintain appropriate levels of van stock to support a ‘Right First Time’ service approach.
- Provide a high standard of customer service and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and regulations, including the correct use of PPE.
- promoting a positive image of the service.
- Report hazards, accidents, or near misses immediately and maintain safe working practices at all times.
- Support equality, diversity, and inclusion within the team and across services.
- Take part in training, appraisals, and ongoing development to enhance personal performance.
- Contribute ideas to improve services from a customer-focused perspective.
- Be prepared to assist in the event of a civil emergency or other council-led responses.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties required by the Team Manager appropriate to the post and grading.
- Proven carpentry experience, ideally within social housing or property maintenance.
- Multi-skilled abilities (e.g. patch plastering, basic plumbing, or tiling) are desirable.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Confident using smart devices to record job data.
- Full UK driving licence.
