Community Safety Head

Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in the Northeast is currently recruiting for a Head of Community Safety to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a management environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to be a key member of the Public Health and Wellbeing senior management team and provide strategic leadership, vision and direction for Community Safety.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • represent the Council and the interests of the community when interacting with partners and stakeholders on matters relating to Community Safety and Resilience and Emergency Planning.
  • be the strategic lead and senior representative of the Council in agreed areas and on the appropriate statutory meetings such as Community Safety Partnership (CSP) and Local Resilience Forum (LRF).
  • work with the Director of Public Health to lead and develop a public health approach to crime and safer communities, and with Directorates across the Council on their responsibilities and contribution to enabling healthier, safer, and resilient communities in the Borough.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require a relevant qualification to degree level or equivalent or Management/Leadership qualification.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • Multi agency / partnership working with other statutory and voluntary agencies at a senior management.
  • Working with local communities to identify issues and develop local solutions.
  • Knowledge of regulatory processes, inspections and expectations
  • Risk assessment and risk management models
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation and case law.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £40 - £45 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.
