We’re currently working with a leading housing provider in London who are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to provide short-term operational cover for a 20-week period. This assignment supports business continuity during a period of organisational change following a recent merger.
Based at the Peckham Depot, you’ll take full operational responsibility for a team of Trades Supervisors, ensuring high-quality service delivery across responsive repairs and maintenance. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a hands-on approach and proven experience managing direct labour in a fast-paced housing or property maintenance setting.
This role is suited to someone who can hit the ground running, quickly build trust, and embed core disciplines in job delivery, complaint handling, and health & safety. You’ll also provide a steady operational presence while the existing Contracts Manager leads on the integration of Tower Hamlets Community Housing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day management of Trades Supervisors
- Ensure H&S, job completion, VOs and absence management processes are followed
- Resolve Stage 1 complaints and support performance delivery
- Escalate serious H&S incidents and drive WIP efficiency
- Champion accurate job reporting and contractor management principles
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience managing repairs or trades teams in a housing/property setting
- Confident handling operational issues and performance management
- Strong understanding of health & safety, complaints, and contract delivery
- Able to work on-site in Peckham 2–3 days a week, with flexibility to attend Park Street
- Valid UK driving licence
