Diversity and Inclusion Advisor

Our Client within the public sector is currently recruiting for a HR Consultant within their Diversity and Inclusion team as soon as possible.

This is a full time, temporary position for approximately one year and the ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge on diversity, accessibility inclusion initiatives.

The purpose of the role is to apply expertise on accessibility, diversity and inclusion issues and legislation by supporting the development of appropriate frameworks, practices, training and standards that successfully deliver the Transport Strategy and the organisation's wider objectives.

The main responsibilities of the role:

  • Support the development of initiatives to deliver duties under the Equality Act to ensure legislative compliance and the stakeholders strategy
  • Interpret equality legislation, provide high quality advice to support policy creation as required, including the delivery of training
  • Support the implementation of best practice in the area of D&I to help meet business and mayoral objectives
  • Coordinate D&I governance, committees and consultants
  • Proactively identify key issues / risks affecting customers with protected characteristics, working with our Independent Disability Advisory Group to identify issues and solutions

Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of the issues, barriers and benefits related to customers with different protected characteristics as well as wider groups who may be marginalised in society
  • Ability to provide solid accessibility and inclusion advice to colleagues related to public transport, walking and cycling
  • Ability to identify issues, suggest solutions and support colleagues to make rational, evidence-based, customer-focused decisions
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to build understanding and awareness and explain complex issues clearly
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative working relationships with colleagues
  • Experience working on diversity, accessibility inclusion initiatives
  • Experience planning, organising and coordinating meetings, committees and groups


The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £250 - £280 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £780 - £870 p/week NET after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
