We are currently seeking a skilled and qualified Electrician to join the Property Services division in Islington. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a professional and dedicated repairs and maintenance team, delivering high-quality electrical work in both occupied and empty homes across the borough.
Your primary focus will be carrying out responsive repairs, planned maintenance, and capital works to council-owned properties and social spaces. You’ll also play a vital role in ensuring residents receive safe, decent, and well-maintained homes. Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out electrical maintenance and installation work to an excellent standard
- Respond to scheduled repairs, urgent call-outs, and emergency jobs
- Record job details and materials used on handheld devices (PDA)
- Identify and report any follow-on works or related repairs
- Maintain stock and tools in the company vehicle and replenish as required
- Support apprentices and trainees, offering guidance and monitoring progress
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety procedures and council policies
- Liaise with supervisors, planners, and other teams to schedule and deliver work efficiently
Essential:
- Recognised qualification in Electrical Installation (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds)
- Experience in domestic electrical repairs and maintenance
- Strong understanding of health and safety, including asbestos awareness and working at height
- Ability to use mobile devices and electronic systems to log work
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work
- Commitment to safeguarding, customer service, and equality standards
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Experience working in a housing/local authority setting
- Full UK Driving Licence (if vehicle provided)
- Company van and tools provided (where applicable)
