Job Advert: Enterprise Architect

Location: Islington

Salary: £600 per day umbrella

Key Responsibilities

Primary Job Function

  • Be the primary expert responsible for the evolution of Enterprise Architecture, supporting the Council's Digital and Corporate Strategies.
  • Account for the creation, delivery, and review of the Council's technology strategy, roadmap, and investment plan.
  • Manage the architecture review board and supervise Solution Architects on projects.
  • Uphold and enhance the Council's Enterprise Architecture principles, standards, and patterns.
  • Develop an architecture community of practice for knowledge sharing and consistency.
  • Translate business strategies into an operating model, assess capabilities, identify required changes, and document interrelationships between organisational elements.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Understand the current Enterprise Architecture holistically and facilitate discovery activities to gain insights.
  • Guide stakeholders based on the existing Enterprise Architecture and proposed future architectures.
  • Maintain Enterprise Architecture documentation, principles, standards, patterns, and policies.
  • Review Solution Architectures and ensure quality and integrity of designs.
  • Chair governance bodies and advise the Council on key decisions, strategy, policy, and investment.
  • Lead technology architecture and work with communities of practice to manage evolution of Enterprise IT.
  • Collaborate with service providers, IT teams, and third parties to create current and future architectures.
  • Assure platform design for reliable IT service and integrate appropriate security into architectures.
  • Represent the Council at meetings and events, promoting a professional impression of the council and Digital Services.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or commensurate business/architectural qualification, i.e., TOGAF

Experience

  • Experience of enterprise architecture and design and a breadth of working knowledge of Enterprise IT solutions, including servers, storage, databases, networking, applications, and security within an Enterprise Architecture context.

  • Extensive and demonstrable experience of maintaining a holistic view and setting strategy in the form of roadmaps, transition, and target architectures, and investment cases/plans.

  • Experience of working at a strategic level with key stakeholders, navigating top-level organizational politics with evidence of managing by influence to achieve successful outcomes to complex business problems.

  • Experience in consulting with suppliers about developing designs and roadmaps.

Skills

  • Proficiency in designing and aligning an organization's IT strategy, systems, and processes with its business goals and objectives. (A/I)
  • Understanding business models, processes, and organizational structures to develop architectural solutions that meet business needs and drive value. (A/I)
  • Deep knowledge in specific technical domains, such as cloud computing, cyber security, data management, or enterprise systems.
  • Ability to develop long-term IT strategies and roadmaps, considering emerging technologies, industry trends, and business requirements.
