We’re recruiting on behalf of a respected public sector organisation seeking a multi-skilled Estate Services Operative to join a dedicated neighbourhood team delivering frontline environmental services across housing estates throughout Manchester.


About the Role As an Estate Services Operative, you will be part of a proactive and responsive team that works directly within local communities. Your role will focus on maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of housing estates and communal areas through scheduled and reactive janitorial, grounds maintenance, and waste clearance services.

You’ll play a vital part in creating neighbourhoods people are proud to live in, delivering practical services that make a visible impact every day.


Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a high-quality janitorial service in communal housing areas
  • Undertake grounds maintenance and improvement works, including gardening and landscaping tasks
  • Carry out waste clearance duties, including removal of bulky items and fly-tipped materials
  • Support with planned and ad-hoc operational duties as required to maintain estate standards
  • Operate machinery and cleaning equipment in line with health and safety guidelines
  • Report any safety concerns or issues that may affect residents or the local environment
  • Act as a visible and approachable presence in the community, providing excellent customer service to residents and visitors

What We’re Looking For
  • A proactive, hands-on individual who takes pride in their work
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering quality service
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility across various tasks
  • Physically fit and confident working in outdoor environments in all weather
  • A valid UK driving licence (held for a minimum of 12 months) is essential
  • Previous experience in estate services, grounds maintenance or a similar public-facing environment is desirable
