The Role
Key purpose of the role is to provide expert estate and asset management services across a diverse public sector property portfolio, supporting strategic aims and delivering value for money through proactive lease management, valuation, and development advice.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Managing operational and non-operational estate assets including offices, schools, libraries, and industrial units.
- Handling lettings, lease renewals, rent reviews, re-gears and inspections.
- Undertaking complex valuations for a range of purposes including asset disposal and development appraisals.
- Contributing to the Council’s investment programme and advising on property acquisition, disposal and development.
- Providing timely reports to senior management and elected members.
- Leading commercial land and property strategy to balance income generation, risk and long-term value.
To be considered for this role you will require:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Land Management, Real Estate or a related field.
- Full Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
- Proven experience in local authority estates management.
- Experience with development appraisals, investment acquisitions and working with external consultants.
- Registered Valuer status (desirable but not essential).
- Strong understanding of landlord and tenant law, negotiation and estate strategy.
