Facility Officer (Centre Officer)
Location: The Hut, Wakefield
Pay: £14 Per hour PAYE inc Holiday | £17.96 Per hour Ltd Umbrella
Type: Full-time, Temporary
Hours: Monday – Friday, with occasional evenings/weekends
Driving licence essential for this position.


Service Care Solutions are seeking a proactive Facility Officer on behalf of a public sector client to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy community centre in Wakefield. This is a hands-on, customer-focused role with a strong emphasis on building management, community engagement, health & safety, and event coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily operations and maintenance of a busy community centre.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all building-related matters.
  • Oversee bookings, set up event spaces, and support users during functions.
  • Coordinate contractors, manage health & safety records, and ensure compliance with building regulations.
  • Provide reception cover, customer service, and promote centre events across web and social media platforms.
  • Perform manual tasks such as locking/unlocking premises, minor repairs, litter picking, and grounds maintenance.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum 4 GCSEs (including English and Maths) or 2 years in a similar facilities/customer-facing role.
  • Strong knowledge of building maintenance and compliance.
  • Experience in health & safety, financial processes (invoicing, banking), and customer service.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • First Aid and Professional Customer Care certifications.
Desirable:
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification
  • Familiarity with room booking or finance systems
Additional Information:
  • You will supervise one Centre Assistant.
  • Manual handling and lone working required.
  • A flexible, hands-on attitude is essential.
