Are you passionate about empowering young people to reach their full potential? Merton Council is seeking a Family Advisor to join our Preparing for Adulthood Plus team, supporting vulnerable young people on their journey to independence.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people aged 16 to 25 who are in or have recently left care, or who are unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
Key Responsibilities: As a Family Advisor, you will provide hands-on support and guidance to help young people:
- Successfully transition from care into independent living
- Build life skills, including budgeting and money management
- Access and sustain suitable accommodation
- Engage in education, training, or employment pathways
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle and get the healthcare they need
- Establish strong, supportive social networks
- Strong communication and motivational skills
- A practical, hands-on approach to support
- Commitment to safeguarding and empowering young people
- Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency teams
