Family Advisor

Location: Merton - 3 days in the office per week
Contract: Initial 3-month assignment
Hours: 35 hours per week
Rate: £28 per hour (via umbrella company)

Are you passionate about empowering young people to reach their full potential? Merton Council is seeking a Family Advisor to join our Preparing for Adulthood Plus team, supporting vulnerable young people on their journey to independence.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people aged 16 to 25 who are in or have recently left care, or who are unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

Key Responsibilities: As a Family Advisor, you will provide hands-on support and guidance to help young people:
  • Successfully transition from care into independent living
  • Build life skills, including budgeting and money management
  • Access and sustain suitable accommodation
  • Engage in education, training, or employment pathways
  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle and get the healthcare they need
  • Establish strong, supportive social networks
Who We’re Looking For: You’ll bring experience in working with young people in care or care leavers, preferably in a similar role. You’ll need:
  • Strong communication and motivational skills
  • A practical, hands-on approach to support
  • Commitment to safeguarding and empowering young people
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency teams
