Hours: 37 per week
Pay: £17 – £21 per hour (umbrella), depending on experience (£13-£16 PAYE an hour)
Devon County Council is seeking a dedicated Leaving Care Personal Advisor to support young people aged 16–25 as they transition from local authority care into independence.
This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in shaping the futures of care-experienced young people—providing guidance, practical support, and a trusted relationship when it matters most.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of approximately 20 young people
- Provide tailored support to improve life chances, safety, housing, education, employment, and independence
- Build trusting relationships and promote emotional well-being and resilience
- Develop and implement pathway plans based on assessed needs
- Liaise with multi-agency partners to coordinate support and safeguard young people
- Maintain accurate records and ensure statutory duties are met in a timely manner
- Travel locally and occasionally out of county to visit young people
- Experience working directly with young people, families, and carers
- Strong understanding of legislation including Children Act 1989 and Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000
- Knowledge of child development and the challenges facing care leavers
- Comfortable managing a varied caseload and working independently
- Resilient, compassionate, and committed to making a difference
- Willingness to work flexibly and travel as required
